01: The Retreat
Throughout the design process of this conceptual 100-square-foot bathroom space, our focus was to provoke curiosity by creating an unconventional exhibition booth. The Retreat was designed to keep the featured product unseen from the outside, instead of boasting it.
The stimulating Dichroic exterior intrigues the audience to step into the space, which soon leads them to a pitch-black maze. The audience are then encouraged to explore the maze guided by the sound of shower. At the end of their journey a sensor-operated rain shower head awaits, filling the space with unexpected light and colours.
Letting the audience fully immerse themselves in the interactive space, The Retreat experiments with a new format of exhibition design that leaves a lasting impression of a product intertwined with the sensory experience. It gives the audience a nudge to reflect on their daily shower experience, by recreating a tight shower booth but replacing water with light. The shower juxtaposed with an outburst of colours elevates the space to a modern retreat - a secluded refuge from the hustle and bustle of the exhibition.
